Pest Management

Pest management is important in crop production. Even after spending approximately 34% of variable crop production cost on pest control, farmers can lose 10 to 30% of potential yield because of insects, diseases and weeds. While many techniques control pests, chemical pesticides are an integral part in this process. Proper pesticide use is important in maintaining groundwater quality and the effectiveness of the chemical.

Here you can obtain some specific pest management information on growing stages per best management practices, insect / disease / weed / nematode identification and management, and a complete list of registered pesticides for New Mexico including labels. You can access this information by clicking on the specific topic under the "NM Chile Pesticides 2003" heading on the left side navigational
